Anthony, I do not disagree with you that “在香港想上位, 最有效率的方法如下: 一靠父蔭,二靠關係,三靠做契弟.” Unfortunately, or fortunately I do not have anyone of them.
But, I always ask myself what does it mean by “上位”? It will lead to what we discussed earlier ‘What is our goal?’ and ‘What is Happiness’? Why do we have to be positive (Positive Psychology)?

My age falls into the Second Generation of the classification. For your information, the 际遇 of those who were born in 1945 – 1955 (aged 54 to 64) is very different from the 际遇 of those who were born in 1956 – 1965. Some of my university classmates still have to work very hard for their children and flats. The Golden Period of Hong Kong was from 1983 to 1997. It does not mean that Hong Kong will not have her second golden period in the near future.

Thx for sharing the opinion on four generation of HK people. I also feel this although I was not born in HK. There seems fewer opportunities for young people if they do not take the three approaches you suggested.

One thing we have to know is the problems of personal development and job security are global, not Hong Kong specific. A couple of my classmates (high school), who moved to and lived in the US in 80’s, lost their jobs periodically since 2003.

  7. Tracy says

    oh, yes yes…

One must never lose his faith and confidence. What we should do is to get prepared. Our opportunity may be just around the corner.

    – I confirm the place is SHATIN NEW TOWN PLAZA.
    – Right now, I am in the 死胡同…..and I truly hope my opportunity is just around the corner…..
